Sunday Market – Beef Rendang Lasagne

imageMade a Sat visit to a friend’s place after viewing wonderful food posted by Gardi

on his FB page. Gardi was with Timbre Group, our company supplied him booze & knew him for a while. He left Timbre with his twin brother whom was ex chef for famed Timbre kitchen known for delectable dishes like Duck Pizza etc. Now they both own Sunday Market tucked quietly along Serangoon Road.

imageTom, It’s Yummy $15.00. Spaghetti prepared with Tom Yum broth accompanied with Juicy prawns, squid and crispy enoki mushrooms. Tom Yum dishes other than soup itself, like TY fried rice, TY noodles, TY whatever presents slight challenges to get it right. Sunday Market TY Pasta wasn’t OTT and had right spice flavors with pasta cooked al dente.

imageGenerous size I would say.

imageRen Dang! Lasagne $16.00. Sunday market’s signature dish. Beef brisket slow cooked, rendang gravy nicely laid in between pasta sheets & mozzarella topped with rocket, grated cheese & a nice juicy vine ripened cherry tomato.

imageLasagne was soft on bite, rendang flavors blended with cheese was a first for me i must say. Beef brisket was tender, soft and married well with gravy. Even tomato itself was a mini dish nicely decorated and peeled. Must Try!

Had tried Lasagnes slightly tough on the outside. This was soft inside out.

imageThe Phoenix $11.00. The rock glass contains Sunday Market’s famed thai milk tea but in ice cream form. Yes. Thai Milk Tea Ice Cream. Block of cinnamon brioche toast accompanied with matcha custard & berries. Visual feast & tummy feast 2 in 1.

imageimageCustard injected into toast to provide this creamy inner character. It goes really well with matcha custard or ice cream OR BOTH 🙂

imageimageGardi explained how they flew down to BKK to master this drink. Simple but ain’t just tea loaded with tonnes of milk. You must must must try this. Sweet, Creamy & Fresh (definitely not overnight tea). Best Thai Milk Tea ever tried.

imageOther nice blended or straight selections for discerning tea kakis

imageFaema E61 – Italian Coffee Machine. Good machinery for excellent coffee. Probably weighs as much as my wife.

imageA yawn is a silent scream for coffee. Well said.

image#badforyou #iwantmore How can one miss these savoury stuff! The winner of the Sunday Market Ice Cream Awards still went to Thai Milk Tea Ice Cream. But yet to try the above mentioned. Soon perhaps!

imageimageimageMid day crowd just nice to grab time for chit chat session with Gardi. Sunday is the busiest day of the week fyi. SM’s retro theme was kept simple, provided comfy chairs and tables, subtle lighting won’t burn/blind anyone, staff were approachable and food came promptly without hitches.

imageTake it easy Sat @ Sunday Market. Once again I focused my eyes on the wrong side of the handphone lens.

imageLiterally relax one corner with SM being located right at last lot at row of shophouses. Ample parking space directly outside unit with other wonderful food selections walking distance. Do pop by soon!
